Building your Electronic Press Kit

By Isabella Crebert

Just starting out as a performer? Build your Electronic Press Kit!

What is an Electronic Press Kit?

An Electronic Press Kit is a necessity for anyone wanting to get their name out there in the music world. Basically, an EPK is your music resume; a compilation of all the necessary information that you need in order to be contacted for gigs. You can send your EPK to venues, music industry professionals or media.

What should be in an Electronic Press Kit?

Your EPK must include
Links to social media, including YouTube and Sound Cloud.
Your contact information
A summarised biography
Footage from gigs

Just as you would have a reference on your resume when applying for a job, you should source a reference to place on your EPK; such as someone who has written a positive Facebook status about your performance.

When creating your Electronic Press Kit, you will want to ensure that you are professional. Show that you are by:

Having a logo
Using only professional or high resolution images and videos
Provide links to any newspaper articles or radio interviews that you have been involved in for music

Having an Electronic Press Kit is vital in order to get your name plastered on the streets. You just need to have the right information and be professional about it. Simple!
